Galaxy Gas Nitrous Recipes: Extra Information

What is the difference between coconut milk and coconut cream?

Coconut milk is the creamy white liquid extracted by grinding coconut flesh in water. Technically, coconut milk and coconut cream are the names of the same substance. However, as you can expect, they do vary in their fat content. Coconut cream should contain at least 17% of fat. The fat content is low in coconut milk.

Coconut milk or coconut cream – which one is better?

People use both coconut milk and coconut cream for making their Pina Colada. We can say it is a matter of personal preference that how you like your drink. Coconut cream is richer and sweeter than coconut milk due to its low water content and high-fat content.

Dark Rum vs. White Rum – which one is better?

Most of the time, the original Pina Colada recipes call for gold rum or white rum. However, some people may prefer dark rum because it gives additional depth and character. That is because dark rum contains many tannins that make a more balanced and crushable cocktail. With notes of toasted marshmallow, toasted vanilla, and caramel from the long stay in the barrels, the drinks become amazing.

Fresh Pineapple Juice vs. Canned Pineapple Juice – which one is better?

While most people will say that fresh juices are essential for the real taste in cocktails, Pina Colada is an exception to this rule. Most of the time, canned juice is used in Pina Coladas, as the extraction of fresh pineapple juice is a tiresome process. First, you must have a perfectly ripe pineapple, which is very difficult to identify. Secondly, you must own a super-powerful juicer. Third, there is not much left as juice when you strain the fibers and pulp. Therefore, people use canned pineapple juice for convenience, which is a little bit sweeter than fresh juice.

Heavy Cream – Is it worth adding to a Pina Colada?

Some people prefer their Pina Colada with heavy cream, but this ingredient is most often ignored. Heavy cream makes the drink richer and creamier so that it tastes like a milkshake. It covers the granular and sandy texture of the blended ice. Here we used vanilla ice cream instead of heavy cream to boost the flavor of our Pina Colada.

How can you add more alcohol?

When you are drinking Pina Colada at a bar, you will see that most bartenders often add an extra shot of alcohol to your cocktail. It may be Amaretto or rum, or anything else. However, it is not necessary when you are preparing Pina Colada at home.

Maraschino Cherry – Is it an essential garnish?

Most often, you must have seen Pina Colada served with a red Maraschino cherry. However, it does not make any sense to use it as it doesn’t contribute to the taste. It is better to use a slice of fresh pineapple as a garnish.

What is Coco Lopez?

Coco Lopez is the Puerto Rican brand of coconut cream that is originally used in the recipe. If you cannot get Coco Lopez, you can use any other brand of coconut cream for making Pina Colada.
