Can you make Martini at Home?
The martini is a popular cocktail that is made from gin and vermouth. Traditionally it is served with a lemon or olive. Sometimes vodka is used instead of gin.
When it comes to making a Martini, there are several possible variations. Vodka or gin, double strained or ice shards, shaken or stirred, olives or lemon twist?
Your style of Martini may be different from your partner. This versatility has made Martini a classic cocktail all around the world.
You can also customize your Martini at home considering yours’ and your partners’ choices. We can say that rightly done homemade Martini is as sophisticated as the readymade one.
However, if you are a beginner, it is always better to start with a standardized recipe that makes the classical Martini. Once you perfect the standard recipe, you can try out your customized recipes. Here is how you can play with the ingredients.
Gin or Vodka:
Gin is the fundamental ingredient of every classic Martini. Some people do not like to prefer the botanical flavor of gin. Gin goes well with the herbal nature that dry vermouth has. When formulating your Martini using Gin, try some quality names such as Beefeater, Tanqueray, Plymouth Gin, or Hendrick’s.
However, if you are not a Gin person, you can get along with Vodka in your Martini. Vodka is flavorless and neutral spirit. Many people prefer Vodka for a smooth taste rather than Gin. Choose any premium bottle such as Ketel One or Belvedere. The better the quality of Vodka you use, the better your Martini will turn out.
Dry Vermouth:
You can say that dry vermouth is a fortified wine. It has several botanicals and herbs infused and blended in it, which impart a distinctive flavor. When making your Martini, use high-quality vermouth and keep the rest of the contents preserved in the refrigerator for future use.
Shaken vs. Stirred Martini – Which one is Better:
Most people prefer to shake their Martini instead of just stirring it to make it icy cold. Shaking a martini lets the ice distribute evenly, yielding an ice-cold drink. However, it does dilutes the real flavor of the Martini.
Which Fruit Juices Go Well With Martini?
Though most fruit juices blend well with Martini and give a very refreshing taste, we have used the pink summer fruits in this recipe and combined them with cherry/berry tea to create a great refreshing cocktail.
Watermelon Juice:
It makes the cocktail refreshing, sweet, and satisfying. Watermelon juice is a perfect way of revitalizing yourself on hot sunny days and after a workout.
Strawberry Juice:
This sweet and sour juice adds a great flavor to your drinks and goes well in cocktails.
